That review that made me ditch my favorite style of writing forever

I was putting up my fanfic on a forum about 8 months ago and someone commented that my dialogue all sounded like lectures. They said every character talked like they were teaching a class and it killed the vibe. I went back and read my last 3 chapters and couldn't unsee it, every line was basically an info dump. So I started reading my stuff out loud to catch it and now I edit way harder, has anyone else had a reader just nail you with feedback like that?

Ain't that the truth, harsh feedback hurts but it's usually the most helpful.

Started reading my own texts out loud after that happened to me... realized I do it in real life too, where I turn conversations into little lessons without meaning to. My partner caught me explaining how to load the dishwasher step by step and I cringed so hard. It's like that feedback spills over into everything once you notice it.
