My friend told me to skip the first 200 pages of 'The Name of the Wind' and I wish I listened
She said the beginning is just him as a kid and nothing really happens until he gets to the university. I slogged through 150 pages before giving up last month, and now I'm wondering if I should just skip ahead like she said and try again. Has anyone else gotten stuck on a book and had a friend give you a shortcut that actually worked?

Nah, the kid stuff sets up everything that matters later in the book lol.

Eh I don't know man. Felt like a drag to me. Could've cut half that stuff and still gotten the same payoff later.
