DNF'd that viral 900-page fantasy epic after 3 months of slogging

Kept waiting for the payoff, you know? Got to page 734 and realized I didn't care about any of the characters anymore. Has anyone else given up on a book right near the end?

Did you ever try jumping ahead to see if the last 50 pages changed your mind? I hit the same wall with a popular sci-fi series last year. I was like 600 pages in and just totally checked out on the main character's decisions. What finally worked for me was putting it down for two weeks and reading something short and fun instead. Then I came back with fresh eyes and skimmed the last 100 pages just to get closure. Honestly it still felt like a waste of time but at least I got to say I finished it lol.

Gotta respectfully push back a little here. Reading 734 pages is a huge investment of your time and energy, and skimming the ending just to say you finished feels like you're letting the book win (lol). It's okay to call it quits even that late, because life's too short to force yourself through something that's not working for you.
