A librarian in Tulsa handed me a book I didn't ask for and now I can't stop thinking about it
I was at the Rudisill Library in Tulsa two weeks ago just killing time while my car got new tires. I grabbed a random book off the cart because I liked the cover, and the librarian looked at me and said, "that one wrecked me, just so you know." I laughed it off. Got home. Read the whole thing in one night (stayed up till almost 3am). It's about a family losing their farm in the 80s and the way the dad just quietly falls apart. I sat in my kitchen the next morning and couldn't even finish my coffee. I kept looking at my own dad's old work boots by the door. Never had a book do that to me before. Anyone else get handed a book by a total stranger and have it hit way harder than expected?
