Wasted $60 on a book club subscription box - total garbage
I signed up for one of those monthly book club subscription boxes back in January. It was $60 for the first box and I thought "cool, curated picks with fun extras." What I got was a paperback I could have found at a thrift store for $2, a cheap bookmark, and a tea bag. The book was some random self-published romance with typos on every page. I read three chapters and gave up. Their whole thing was "handpicked for readers" but it felt like they just grabbed whatever was on sale at a warehouse. I messaged them about a refund and they ghosted me for two weeks. Has anyone else gotten burned by one of these subscription boxes? I want to know which ones are actually worth trying.
