TIL the reason our book club fights every time is that we pick books by vote instead of by whoever suggests one
We spent 40 minutes at Dana's house in March arguing about a 600 page novel nobody finished, and I finally figured out we were blaming the books when the real problem was letting the loudest four people outvote the seven who actually read the pick, so which side are you on, voting or rotating picks?
Oh wow, has anyone tried a mix where the person who picks has to finish it first and give a quick pitch before the vote? That way the group still gets a say but the pick comes from someone who actually read the thing.
