The 'unreliable narrator' excuse is killing character discussions
Twice in the last two meetings, someone dismissed plot holes by saying the narrator was just unreliable, even when the book had a third-person narrator. Is that a fair defense or just a crutch for bad editing? I think we need a rule about when that label actually applies, like only first-person with clear bias, what do you all do when this comes up?
