Vent: Back in '08 I had to pick between a stick welder or a new rigging sling set for a big job in Tacoma.

The crew was split on what we needed more for the pressure vessel install. I went with the slings, figuring we could rent a welder if we had to. It turned out the old slings we had were way past their safe working load and would have failed. Anyone else ever make a call like that where the boring safety gear was the real winner?

Ever notice how the boring choice saves your skin?

Boring choices usually just don't scream at you, but that quiet path almost always has the better footing. It's not that nothing ever goes wrong, it's just that the dull option rarely leaves you scrambling to pick up the pieces. Maybe that makes it boring, but I'd rather skip the adrenaline and get home in one piece.

Yeah, feels like a life rule at this point. Play it safe and you don't get burned.
