Ever have that moment where you realize you've been doing stuff wrong for years and the old guy just casually drops the truth bomb on you? My first welding teacher told me my beads looked like a drunk caterpillar had a seizure, and honestly that's still the best compliment I've ever gotten on my work. I guess some lessons just stick with you better when they come with a side of embarrassment.

Oh hard disagree on this one. I think getting roasted for bad work just makes people defensive, not better. That old school "tough love" approach? It only works if you already respect the person dishing it out, and most of the time it just makes beginners scared to ask questions. Had a woodworking teacher in high school who told me my dovetail joints looked like "a beaver on meth" and I quit the class for two years because I felt stupid. Some of us need patience and clear direction, not a comedy routine about our failures.
