PSA: Swapping my old habit for a torque wrench fixed my seal issues

I used to tighten bolts until they just felt right, which led to occasional leaks. After a bad one sprayed hot water everywhere, I made myself use a torque wrench every time. Now I follow the manual specs without skipping. My seals hold perfectly and I haven't had a single leak since. It's a small change that made a huge difference, lmao.

Wait, HOT WATER sprayed everywhere? How bad was that mess? My brain just imagines ruining the floor, the wall, maybe even some electronics nearby. That's not just a leak, that's a mini disaster that makes you rethink your whole life. I'd be switching to a torque wrench too after that.

The hot water part is what gets me. Regular leaks are bad, but hot water adds the risk of burns. That kind of mess really does make you question everything.

Man I was the same way for years, just going by feel. Always thought torque wrenches were for pros or overkill. Reading about @henry312's point on the burn risk really hits home though. That hot water spray isn't just a wet floor, it's a safety wake up call. You're right, that kind of scare makes you stop and actually read the manual. Now I see it's not about being fancy, it's about not getting hurt or wrecking your stuff.
