Found a stat that board gamers buy 40% fewer games after 5 years in the hobby

I was reading a blog post from a game store owner who ran the numbers, and apparently the average shelf settles down hard after that 5 year mark. I'm coming up on year 4 myself and already feel the urge to buy dropping. Do you think that's just burnout or do we actually learn to be more picky?
