Vent: My cat photos got way sharper after I ditched autofocus

I've been taking pictures of my tabby for years and they always came out fuzzy, especially indoors. But then I tried manual focus on my Canon from 2015 and suddenly whiskers were crisp. Now I'm wondering if autofocus is just bad for moving pets or if my camera's sensor is the real issue. Has anyone else noticed a bigger difference switching to manual focus than upgrading their gear?

Yeah manual focus forces you to actually see what's happening instead of letting the camera guess. Motion blur in low light is probably why autofocus kept missing your cat, not the sensor.

Yeah, your mileage may vary but focus peaking in manual mode saved my cat photos in low light.
