My phone camera trick for low light finally worked after 2 years of blurry photos

I was at my niece's birthday party in Portland last month, and the indoor lighting was terrible. Every shot came out shaky until I remembered something a friend told me about using the 2-second timer instead of tapping the shutter button. It forced me to hold the phone steady for those extra seconds, and the difference was huge. Has anyone else tried the timer trick or found a better way to handle low light without a tripod?

The timer trick might help a little but honestly the real issue is bad phone sensors not your finger shake. Holding the phone steady for 2 seconds doesn't fix that fact that most phones just suck in low light. I've tried it on my old Samsung and the photos still looked like garbage because the sensor can't grab enough light no matter how still you hold it. People give way too much credit to small tricks when the hardware is the real bottleneck.

Oh wow, I read that the timer trick works because it reduces shake from your finger tapping the screen!
