My dad's old blurry photo of a lighthouse finally made sense to me

I was looking through his box of old photos last night and found a super shaky shot of some lighthouse with a guy standing on the rocks. My mom said it was from their trip to Cape Hatteras in 1987 and the guy was my grandpa who passed away a year later. Suddenly the blurry mess was the only photo they had of him on that trip and it hit me way harder than any clear photo could.

And @rowangonzalez is totally right, the messed up ones are the real treasures. Most of my life is a blurry mess anyway so at least I'm keeping it consistent.

Oh man, that hit me right in the gut. I had a similar thing with a photo of my grandma holding up a fish she caught, totally out of focus and half her face is chopped off. For years I thought it was just a crappy picture, but after she passed I realized it was the only one where she actually looked happy and not posing all stiff. That blurry mess became my favorite thing. It's funny how the imperfect ones end up meaning the most because they show someone just living their life, not trying to be perfect for the camera.
