A guy in this group told me to stop using auto mode and try shutter priority
He said my blurry dog photos were because the camera was picking too slow a shutter speed, so I switched to 1/500 and now I can actually see her face instead of a smudge.

Oh man, that exact same thing happened to me with my cat photos! I was so frustrated until someone told me to bump the shutter speed way up - total game changer for getting clear shots of anything that moves.
