Warning: almost tossed a paperback last month because the last page read like a printing error, turns out it was on purpose
Last month I finished a used sci-fi paperback from Powell's in Portland and the final chapter was just one sentence repeated 14 times, so I assumed the press messed up and almost returned it. A guy at my book club pulled up an interview where the author said it was meant to feel like a glitch, and now I don't know if that's clever or just lazy. Has anyone else hit an ending that looked broken but was actually the point?
Had a similar thing with a vinyl record where the last track was just the same chord over and over for three minutes. Thought my needle was stuck and almost took it back to the shop. Guy there laughed and said it was the band's idea of a joke.
