My book club called my ending rants "too polite," so I tried their way once

Told me to stop tiptoeing around authors and just say the final 30 pages felt like a fever dream written by a confused pigeon. I did that last month and two people actually left mid-discussion, has anyone else had feedback that turned their group weird?
