The hospital social worker handed me the wrong discharge papers and I almost signed them
I was sitting in a recovery room at Mercy General in Sacramento 3 days after giving birth, still foggy from the meds, when a social worker slid a folder at me and said sign here. I flipped to the last page and saw another woman's name and her baby's name typed above the signature line, not mine. I pushed it back across the table and asked for my own papers, and she went pale and left the room for 20 minutes. I ended up staying an extra day while they sorted it out, and I still wonder what would have happened if I had just signed it without reading. Did anyone else get handed paperwork that wasn't theirs during their hospital stay?
