I found my birth mom's old letters in a box last week

Pulled out a dusty shoebox from the attic and there were 12 letters she wrote to my dad before I was born. Never knew she tried to reach out 3 times after the adoption but got no response back. Has anyone else found stuff like this that changed how you see the whole situation?

Letters from years ago don't change what happened - she still gave you up and the silence from your dad was probably for a good reason.

Oh totally agree with you David, it's wild how people try to rewrite history with some dusty old letters. My bio mom sent me a whole folder of them years after the fact, all about how she always loved me and thought about me every day, but the thing is she signed the papers and walked away when I was three months old. I get that people make hard choices and all, but that silence from my dad? Yeah, I found out later he had his own reasons too, like he was trying to protect me from her drama and instability. It's easy to pull out pretty words later on when the hard stuff is already done, but those actions at the time tell you everything you need to know. Sometimes a letter is just a way for them to feel better about themselves, not fix anything for you.
