PSA: Check spoke tension after your first 100 miles on new wheels, a guy at the shop in Boise was right
I built up a set of wheels for my commuter back in March and figured once they were true they were good to go. An old mechanic named Ray at the shop on Vista Ave kept telling me to come back after 100 miles so he could check the tension, and I blew him off twice because the wheels felt fine. At around mile 300 I started getting a wobble and found two drive side spokes down near 60 kgf when they should have been around 120. He retensioned the whole wheel for $20 and it has been dead straight for 800 miles since. Anyone else notice new spokes really do bed in that fast, or was my build just sloppy?
