Overheard a kid at the shop say derailleurs are outdated tech
I was helping a kid adjust his gears yesterday and he told me derailleurs are basically horse and buggy stuff now compared to those new electronic groupsets. It made me think about how we used to spend hours dialing in limit screws and cable tension on old 7-speed setups in my dad's garage back in the 90s. Do you guys ever miss the hands on feel of working with mechanical systems before everything went digital?

And I still can't get my limit screws right even with digital shifting, so I'm basically a caveman with a hex key.

Whoa wait. Did you say "limit screws right even with digital shifting"? That's wild. I mean electronic groupsets are supposed to fix all that fiddly stuff. But you're saying you still have to mess with the limit screws? That's crazy. I thought those new systems just worked out of the box. Guess they're not as foolproof as the marketing makes them sound.
