Dropped $340 on a Park Tool wheel truing stand and it saved my Saturdays
I run a small repair shop out of my garage here in Boise and for two years I was truing wheels in the frame with zip ties as gauges. It worked okay for minor stuff but anything more than a wobble and I was fighting it for an hour. I finally broke down and bought a Park Tool TS-2.2 stand for around $340 after a customer brought in a set of carbon hoops that I almost wrecked. The difference is night and day. I can dial in lateral and radial true in like 12 minutes now and I can actually see what I'm doing instead of guessing. I made that money back in three weeks just from wheel builds I used to turn down. The only thing I'd say is the stand itself is a tank, so if you got a tiny bench you need to think about space. Curious what you all are using for truing, is the TS-2.2 overkill for a home setup or did I just finally buy the right tool?
