The customer who told me his last barber "ruined his whole vibe" and why that phrase still bugs me
Had this guy come in about 6 months ago at my shop in Akron. He sits down, real serious look on his face, and says his last barber "ruined his whole vibe" by doing a fade that was too high. I asked him what he wanted different, and he just kept saying he wanted his "vibe restored." I did a standard low fade, nothing special, and he tipped me $20 and said I "got it." Thing is, I still think the problem wasn't the haircut. It was that he couldn't tell the barber what he actually wanted. Has anyone else dealt with clients who use super vague words like that and expect you to read their mind?

Read this thing online about how most people don't actually know the names for haircut parts or what they look like in their head. That guy probably just needed someone to show him a picture or draw it out, not just toss around "vibe" like it means something. Drives me nuts when people expect you to just get it without giving you anything real to work with.
