Kid flinched mid fade at my Chicago shop and the guard slipped, here is how I fixed it

I was 20 minutes into a skin fade on a 9 year old when his little brother popped a balloon behind us, he jerked hard, and I took a chunk out of the taper with the trimmer, so I dropped to a 0.5 guard, blended the bald line up into a shadow fade on that side only, and matched it on the other side to keep it even, and dad actually tipped extra for saving it, so what is your go to rescue move when a kid moves at the worst possible second?
