Serious question, my neighbor in Phoenix swore my balcony peppers needed a fan on them 2 hours a day
I laughed at him for a month because come on, they are peppers, not babies, but then half my blooms kept dropping off my bell plants on the south rail. He hooked up a little clip fan on a timer and inside 9 days I had 6 peppers setting where before I had zero. So is airflow actually the thing nobody talks about on balconies, or did I just luck into a good stretch of weather?
A clip fan on a timer for 9 days and 6 peppers is a tiny sample size, that could easily just be Phoenix finally cooling off a hair in September. Peppers do drop blooms when it's crazy hot, like over 95 at night, and moving air can help a little with pollen and heat stress. But saying nobody talks about airflow feels like a stretch, it's usually just one of ten things people blame when flowers drop.
