My tomato plant almost took a dive off the third floor

Two days ago, I was watering my balcony setup when I noticed my biggest cherry tomato plant leaning at a crazy angle. The main stem had snapped about halfway up, right under a heavy cluster of green fruit. It happened because I used those cheap green twist ties to hold it to the bamboo stake, and they cut right into the stem as it grew thicker in the heat. I had to act fast before the whole thing broke off. I gently propped it up with a spare paint stirrer, then carefully wrapped the break with some soft cloth tape I had in my toolbox. I'm keeping it in the shade for now and hoping it heals. Has anyone else had a plant snap like that and managed to save it?

Ugh those twist ties are the worst, @barbara_sanchez88 is right. My neighbor's whole cucumber vine snapped last week from the same thing.

Try using old pantyhose or soft fabric strips next time, those green ties are brutal.
