My basil got wiped out by a $30 'organic' spray

Bought a fancy bottle of plant spray from a local garden center, said it was safe for veggies and would stop bugs. It killed every single leaf on my three basil plants in under 48 hours, just turned them black. What's a real, gentle pest fix you guys actually trust?
