My sourdough starter turned into a science project gone wrong
I tried a new feeding schedule from a blog, leaving it out for 48 hours in my warm kitchen... it grew a fuzzy pink layer on top. I had to throw the whole jar out, which was a real bummer after two weeks of care. What's the weirdest thing that's ever grown in your starter?

Oh, pink fuzz is the worst. That happened to me once when my kitchen got too warm. I found that sticking to a simple 1:1:1 ratio of starter, flour, and water every 24 hours works best for my routine. Keeping it on the counter but away from direct sun stopped those weird colors. Now if it ever smells like nail polish, I just give it two feedings back-to-back to perk it up.

Two weeks down the drain, that's rough. Harper_Wells is right about the nail polish smell though, that's a real panic moment lol.
