Adding honey to my whole wheat dough fixed everything
Honestly, I was about to give up on whole wheat. Tbh, I read online to mix honey into the water for the yeast. Ngl, it helped the dough rise so much better. Now my bread is fluffy and tastes amazing. Really glad I tried it!

Glad you found the honey trick! It really does fix everything (I swear by it now). I started adding a tablespoon to my warm water with the yeast, and it wakes them up so much faster. Whole wheat can be so dense without that extra sugar for the yeast to eat. Also, it gives the crust a nicer color, which is a bonus. Stick with it, and your bread will only get better.

Okay but have you tried different types of honey? It totally changes the flavor. I used this super dark buckwheat honey once and my whole wheat loaf came out with this almost malty taste, it was wild. My friend used orange blossom and it was crazy floral. It's not just about the sugar boost, it's a whole secret flavor ingredient.
