Pro tip: my roommate's label maker made the kitchen worse, not better
My roommate bought a $30 label maker in March and went full office supply store on our whole kitchen. Every jar, every shelf, every leftover container got a printed tag, including one that just read "misc" stuck on a single grape. The real problem is he labeled things wrong on purpose as a joke, so the flour bin has rice in it and I dumped cumin into my coffee twice. I learned that a label is only as good as the person holding the machine. Do I just start relabeling everything behind his back or is there a better way to end this?
The flour bin with rice in it would've made me lose it. Had a roommate pull this same thing with a cheap label maker a few years back, except he labeled the sugar jar "salt" and I ruined a whole batch of cookies. What finally worked was just sitting him down and saying the joke stopped being funny after the second mix-up, because now I have to check every single thing before I cook. I told him labels only help if they're true, so either he cuts the fake ones out or I take the thing and toss it. He tested me once more after that, so I followed through and hid it in my closet for a week. Never had a problem after that.
