My pavilion build took 4 times longer than the plan said
I bought one of those 12x16 metal roof pavilion kits from a big box store back in May. The box promised a weekend project for two people, but between fighting the instructions and re-leveling the posts three times, it took us five full Saturdays to finish. The anchor bolts didn't line up with the pre-drilled holes, and we had to drill out every single one on the roof panels. Has anyone else dealt with kit hardware that just doesn't fit, or did I get a defective batch?
Man, that anchor bolt thing is the part that would send me over the edge. Were the bolts at least the right size for the holes, or was it a total mismatch where the whole layout was off? I'm asking because if the posts were placed right and the bolts still missed, that tells you the panels were stamped wrong at the factory, which is a whole different problem than you messing up the measuring. And when you re-leveled the posts three times, was that because the ground kept settling or because the kit's own brackets wouldn't hold square? I've been eyeing one of these kits and I keep seeing reviews where people say the hardware is the weak link, not the frame itself. If it was just the bolts and pre-drilled holes, you might be able to get the company to ship you a corrected hardware pack for free instead of eating the cost.
