Double layer of adhesive strips did the trick for me (after the same thing happened).

Our garbage disposal at home had the same issue with the rubber splash guard peeling off. I ended up using a thin layer of super glue around the edge first, then pressed the adhesive strips on top of that. It's held for over a year now with no signs of coming loose. Makes me think we all rush to fix things with the quickest method when really taking an extra ten minutes to do it right saves us a lot of hassle later. Same principle applies to a lot of home repairs I've noticed over the years, like patching drywall or fixing a leaky faucet. The extra step is always worth it in the end.
