Stood over my hen house for 45 minutes arguing with myself about pine shavings versus straw.

I spent three hours last Saturday cleaning the coop because I went with straw the first time and ended up with a moldy mess. Has anyone else had straw turn into a science experiment or am I just unlucky with my setup?

Three hours seems a bit much for a debate that could've been solved with a quick Google search. It's just bedding, not a life or death situation for the birds. Honestly, pine shavings are the default for a reason, straw is more for looks than function.
