Just picked the Sawtooth Loop over the Teton Crest Trail for my first solo trip
I had a week off and was stuck between the Sawtooth in Idaho or the Teton Crest in Wyoming. The Sawtooth is about 70 miles and the Teton is closer to 40, but I heard the altitude on the Crest Trail can be rough. I went with the Sawtooth because it seemed a bit more forgiving for a solo hike, and honestly, the permit was easier to get last minute. Just got back yesterday and it was amazing, the views at Alice Lake were insane. Has anyone else done both and have a take on which one has better campsites?

Tetons for views, Sawtooth for chill camping.

Wait, didn't I see a post about the Sawtooths getting way more crowded now? Still beautiful, but maybe not as quiet as it used to be.

Oh man, the permit thing alone makes your choice the winner. I'd rather wrestle a bear than deal with that Teton lottery again. You basically picked the trail that lets you actually hike instead of filling out paperwork for a month. Sure, maybe a few more people, but at least you're out there and not stuck at home refreshing a website.
