That cheap crimp tool from Amazon cost me a $600 fix after 2 weeks
I bought a $25 no-name crimper for D-sub pins and it mangled the contacts, which came loose on a Cessna 310 nav radio. Anyone else stick to the real AMP or Daniels tools even for small jobs?

A Cessna 310 nav radio? That's serious money. I can't believe you risked a $600 repair over a $25 crimper. Those no-name tools are fine for hobby stuff at home, but not for anything that goes in the air. I've seen guys use them on car wiring and it's a mess after a year. You need the real deal for aviation work, no shortcuts.

Grab a fluke crimper and never look back. I learned that lesson after a cheap tool gave me a cold solder joint on a king radio. Ended up costing me double in bench time.
