Spent 3 hours re-crimping a connector because I skipped the heatshrink step

I got lazy on a D-sub repair last Tuesday and figured I'd add the heatshrink after crimping. Big mistake, had to cut the whole thing off and start over with a fresh pin. Anyone else learn this lesson the hard way or am I the only dummy here?

Read that skipping steps is how most connector failures happen, lol.

It's like when you paint yourself into a corner with furniture assembly, right? You skip one tiny step like checking if the screws are the right size and suddenly half the thing is wrong. Same deal with cooking, you think you can add the salt at the end but then everything's uneven. Life's funny like that, it punishes the shortcuts every single time.
