Picked a used Fluke over a new Klein for my tool bag
Had about $300 to spend and needed a decent multimeter for bench work. Went with a beat up Fluke 87V from a pawn shop near Phoenix instead of a brand new Klein MM700. Thing has been rock solid so far and the accuracy is way better than I expected. Has anyone else had luck buying used test gear from pawn shops?

You mentioned "tanks" but I once dropped an old Fluke 27 off a ladder into a bucket of paint. Rinsed it off with a hose, let it dry for a week and it still worked fine.

You snagged an 87V for three hundred? From a pawn shop? That's crazy good luck man. I've always heard stories about people finding deals like that but never thought it actually happened. Those meters are tanks, they just keep going forever. I bet the old guy that pawned it had no clue what he was letting go.
