Spent 45 minutes chasing a no-start on a 2012 Focus yesterday because the previous guy put the crank sensor in backwards
The plug goes in one way only but the bracket lets you bolt it in flipped around so the sensor face points at nothing and your scope will look perfect because the wiring is fine, has anyone else seen this on the 2.0L engines?

Ask if the bracket has that little arrow cast into it that's supposed to point at the crank or if it's just a blank flat piece. I've seen guys get it flipped exactly like you're saying and then swear the sensor is fine because the connector clicks in. Did you have to pull the intake manifold to get to it or were you lucky enough to have it on top? Those 2.0s can be a real pain depending on how the harness is routed.

Ugh, that arrow thing got me too, spent an hour fighting a no-start because of it.

Man that's rough, @emma_hart. You're totally right about the arrow thing, I've seen that exact issue screw up people's timing on those engines. Makes you wonder why they bother casting it in there if half the time it's impossible to see without a mirror and a flashlight. I feel for anyone wrestling with those 2.0s, the harness routing is a nightmare on some of them. Hopefully they didn't have to pull the intake manifold, that's a job nobody wants to do twice. Just goes to show how one little bracket can throw everything off and leave you chasing your tail for hours.
