Saw something weird at the salvage yard in Tacoma

I was pulling a quarter panel off a 2018 Civic and noticed three other cars with the exact same damage pattern on the driver's side rear. They were all different makes, but the crumple zone looked identical. Is this a new common crash from a specific intersection or something?

That portal line is spot on. My buddy got stuck behind three people in a row who just froze at the same left turn by the old mall. Each one waited for a completely empty road, like they were expecting a parade to come through. He missed his whole lunch break.

Portal's a fun idea, but that damage pattern sounds more like a specific type of sideswipe. Maybe a delivery truck with a weirdly placed step or a piece of road equipment? They'd hit different car models in the same spot. Did the yard say where those cars were towed from?
