Found out my filler was fish-eyeing because of wax on the panel

Spent like 3 hours sanding and redoing a repair on a 2018 F-150 bumper. Then my buddy asked if I wiped it down with wax remover first. Felt pretty dumb but now I always hit it with a grease and wax remover before any filler. Anyone else skip that step starting out?

My first ever repair was on a 2010 Camry bumper and I used acetone (you know, the strong stuff) and still got fish-eye on the first pass. Actually, I think a lot of guys overdo the cleaner and end up leaving a residue that causes the same problem, especially with cheaper fillers. I just use a dry rag to knock off the dust, then a light spritz of alcohol and a quick wipe, and I've had zero issues since.

Did you try acetone? Worked for me when I forgot to degrease first.
