Dropped $280 on a "paint matching" app before a Corolla bumper job, total waste
Last month I had a silver Corolla bumper to respray and I wanted to look modern, so I bought a phone app that reads paint codes off a photo. It said the car was 1F7, I mixed it up, and the bumper came out two shades too warm next to the fenders. I had to sand it back down and mix by eye with my old chip book anyway, then sprayed it again three days later. The app cost me $280 with the subscription and a full day of redo work on a job that should've been done in one pass. Anyone else get burned by these phone paint scanners, or did I just pick the wrong one?
