Man, a whole month for blue halos around stars? Sounds like your camera was having a little rave without telling you. @kelly_henderson83 is probably right about the lens coating, but I bet it felt like you were hunting down some alien tech for a second there. Did you try just covering the lens with a piece of tape or something drastic like that? I've done dumber stuff to fix a photo before, like shaking my tripod to get the dust off the sensor.
