Realized how much streetlights wash out the stars after a power outage last month
We had a blackout in my neighborhood for like 4 hours around midnight. I stepped outside to check if anyone else had power and looked up. Couldn't believe how many stars I could see, even with a few houses running generators. Normally I'm lucky to spot Orion from my backyard. Now I get why folks drive out to the desert for photos. Ever looked at your own night sky shots compared to taken in a dark zone?

Honestly its wild how we just accept that we can only see like 6 stars at night. Ngl that power outage sounds lowkey worth it just for that view. Guess we gotta schedule more blackouts for good astrophotography I guess.

Do you think we've just gotten so used to light pollution that we don't even realize what we're missing anymore?
