Finally got a decent shot of the Andromeda Galaxy after 3 years of blurry messes
I used to just point my cheap telescope and snap whatever showed up (which was usually just a smudge), but after I picked up a star tracker mount last fall and actually learned how to stack exposures in DeepSkyStacker, my latest image has actual spiral arms visible - has anyone else had that moment where one equipment upgrade suddenly makes all your old photos look embarrassing?

I know exactly what you mean about that "spiral arms visible" moment. It's wild how one change can make everything click. That's just how life works honestly, whether it's a better tool for a hobby or finally upgrading a kitchen knife that makes chopping actually enjoyable. You don't realize how much you were fighting the gear until it's not a fight anymore.

You don't realize how much you were fighting the gear" - my buddy spent six months hating his espresso setup, constantly pulling sour shots and blaming his technique. Turns out his grinder was basically a blender from 1982, and once he swapped it everything just worked.
