inJust found out the original boilers on the SS Badger were rated for 450 psi back in the 50s
You're right that the maintenance log tells a story, wendy_murphy16. If they almost never ran at 450 psi, what was the usual operating pressure they logged? I'm curious if the log shows them slowly dialing it back over the decades as things aged, or if they kept it steady. That would really show the crew's long term thinking.

inA job in a 1920s apartment building in Chicago changed how I check for gas leaks
That TIF8800A is a solid choice, I keep one in my truck too. I mean patricia_rodriguez is right, those old buildings hide leaks in threaded joints soap just can't reach. My rule now is detector first on anything pre-war, then confirm with bubbles if I need to see the exact spot. It just saves arguing with a homeowner who swears they smell something but you get a dry brush.

inCan we talk about those cheap fitness trackers from the mall kiosk
Wait, EIGHT hours of deep sleep? That's not even possible for a human body. Those knockoffs are just making up numbers to look good. I'd trust the Fitbit way more if it actually caught the wake ups. Stuff like this is why people think sleep tracking is junk.

inMy old house key stopped working, but the locksmith said it never changed
Yeah, maybe it was just burnt out from all that hard work.
