Tbh, switching my weekly one-on-ones to video calls made a huge difference

Honestly, I used to have audio-only catch-ups with my team lead. Tbh, seeing each other's faces on screen helped us connect better and notice body language. How do you handle regular check-ins to keep things personal in remote work?

Totally get where you're coming from because I felt the exact same way at first. Switching to video felt like another chore where I had to worry about my background or my hair lol. But after giving it a real try for a few weeks, I noticed we were picking up on small cues and having better chats. I still keep some calls audio-only when it makes sense, but seeing a face has made the regular check-ins feel less lonely for me.

Disagree with the video call thing... it feels like extra work to look good. I get more honest talk from just a voice chat where we can relax. Maybe try mixing it up instead of always being on camera.

Wait, you're putting effort into looking good for video calls? Most of us just roll out of bed and turn on the camera without worrying. The whole point is to see each other, not to have a makeup session.
