Shoutout to amateur metal detectorists who actually record their find spots
Too many people just grab artifacts without noting where they came from. It ruins the context for real archaeology.

Ever wonder why some folks still don't bother writing it down... is it just laziness, or do they not get how big a deal it is? Taking an artifact without the spot is like tearing a page from a history book. The exact location tells us so much more than the object alone. What's the best way to get people to actually care about that step? Maybe we need simpler methods for logging finds right in the moment. It just seems like such a basic thing to skip.

But what if the spot doesn't really matter for most of these finds? @taylorw89 most folks are just in it for the cool old coin or button, not writing a research paper. Sometimes you just want the thing, not the whole story.
