Debate: pruning live oaks in summer vs. winter dormancy

I keep seeing guys out here in Houston taking big cuts off live oaks in July. My old boss would fire you for that. He said summer pruning opens them up to oak wilt from the nitidulid beetles. But I see healthy trees getting heavy limb removals in August and they seem fine. Do you wait for December or just get it done when the customer wants it? Anyone have a tree die on them from summer pruning?

Wait, you blew a 3120 on a 95 degree day? Dude, that thing must have been screaming. I'm surprised it didn't melt down on the spot.
