Showerthought: The 'easy' fridge defrost drain fix I did in 2021 just flooded a customer's kitchen last week.
I cleared the line with hot water and a turkey baster back then, but the real clog was further down the plastic tube where it meets the drain pan, and it finally gave way after three years of slow buildup.

Yeah, that's the thing with quick fixes, right? They feel like a win in the moment, but they're just kicking the real problem down the road a few years. I see it everywhere, like patching a software bug without fixing the messy code that caused it. You end up with a bigger mess later when it all finally comes apart.

Taragrant is totally right about kicking problems down the road. It's like when you ignore a weird car noise and just turn up the radio. For three years it's fine, then the whole thing dies on the highway. We do it with everything, from ignoring a small roof leak to putting off a tough talk with someone. The temporary fix feels so good, but it just lets the real issue get worse and more expensive.
