That $80 background check fee was the scam, took 3 weeks to clear my own record
I paid a landlord company in Austin $80 for a background check that showed a 2012 eviction that wasn't even mine, and it took 3 weeks and 4 calls to the credit bureau to get it fixed, has anyone else had to fight a wrong record while a place slipped away?

Paid $85 once for a report that listed me as living in a zip code I'd never set foot in. Took two weeks and a certified letter to scrub it, meanwhile the apartment went to someone else. Data broker roulette, and we're the ones paying to play.
